My only contribution to the Barbie discourse is that not enough people are mentioning that most bars (even/ esp. the dive-y ones) in the 70's/80's had cocktail toothpicks that were little plastic swords which fit a Barbie's hand perfectly.

3. Pick a good venue

Take her somewhere with good ambiance.

No loud music, dead silence, or a place that’s super crowded.

Not insanely fancy but not too casual.

Cocktail bars and speakeasies are great.

You want to be able to converse easily.

Dress up and make reservations.
