y’all may hate me, but i honestly think mappa is better than ufotable. ufotable has a few phenomenal works, like fate and demon slayer, but the rest are just generically made anime with ufotable’s good animation (demon slayer s1 was a victim to that outside a few arcs)

when ufotable makes good fights, they make better fights than anyone in the industry. but the lack of creative or unique directing really makes the animation feel lackluster as it ages. luckily ds post s1 and all of fate doesn’t have this issue

2D would need a think outside the box movie like Spider-Verse was for CGI. ‘Klaus’ was close, I’ve seen other works that suggest it could be done. The old school vintage approach didn’t work a decade ago, so I think that’s where it’d be at. Look to anime and European animation.

Voice acting wise I think #DaveedDiggs is good as #Sebastian , I just feel the animation for the character doesn’t do his ( Daveed ) performance justice. I understand he’s a crab, but it just doesn’t work emotion wise. I get a feeling of no soul looking at that crab.
